NATIONAL MUSIC WEEK  MAY 3-10, 2009

Rappahannock Music Society Chairman: Nackie Steinbach

The 86th annual observance of the National Music Week will be held

May 3-10, 2009. This event was first observed in 1922 with 252 cities and towns participating. It is sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs. Last year the RMS had 375 participants in this event!

This year’s theme is “MUSIC…Poetry of the Heart.”

The Rappahannock Music Society will participate in the following:

  • * MAKE A POSTER using the NMW theme or something that is related to music
  • * WRITE A SONG.  Students who entered the VFMC Junior Composer’s Contest are encouraged to display their works. Also, teachers should indicate on the music if the student was a state or regional winner or received an honorable mention
  • * COLOR A POSTER This activity is for younger children. Nackie can give you as many posters as you wish to have. Just ask.
  • All entries should have the student’s name, age and the teacher’s name or studio on it.
  • Posters and songs should be no larger than 9” X 12.” Larger entries will not be displayed.
  • All Poster/Song Entries should be submitted
