Mentor Program
As a professional organization, Rappahannock Music Society offers a Mentor Program for music teachers. Various members are available for either private lessons or observation sessions. Some teachers team up and observe each other or view pedagogy programs. All arrangements are strictly as agreed between the mentor teacher and the student teacher. However, here are some guidelines as food for thought:
- Private lessons: Short term lessons, (perhaps 1 month) to be paid at mentors current rates. This allows the student teacher to experience the mentors specialty without a long term commitment or any hard feelings at termination. There should be clearly defined goals, such as techniques for hymns, or Bach inventions, etc.
- Observation: This would not involve a time commitment from the mentor, as the student teacher would observe a normal lesson. Payment would be at discretion of mentor.
- Teacher team: Two or more teachers would gather to exchange observations, or view pedagogy programs, or play duets, etc. And then lunch!
Interested members should contact the mentor. This is an excellent way to get acquainted with other members and learn from each other.
RMS is truly a treasure-trove of talent!
