This event was first observed in 1922 with 252 cities and towns participating. It is sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs. Last year the RMS had 392 students and 13 RMS teachers participate in this event!

Music...An Instrument of Universal Expression
All RMS teachers should encourage their students to participate in the following activities:
We will have a display of posters and songs at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library for the entire month of May. All entries should have the students name, age and the teachers name or studio on it. Posters and songs should be no larger than (9 by 12 inches). Larger entries will not be put on display. All Poster/Song Entries should be submitted to Nackie Steinbach at Yamaha Music School by date April 29, 2011.
We will be offering Music in the Library Lobby Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Teachers may sign up for one, two, or three half-hour slots. Sign-up Sheet. You may sign up by contacting Nackie at:
Certificates will be presented to all students who participate in the Music in the Library Lobbyevent. Just send their names to Nackie. This event counts as a RMS activity eligible for the Scholarship competition and is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists.
Our annual NMW Student Recital will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Certificates will be presented to all students who participate in the recital. This event counts as a RMS activity eligible for the Scholarship competition and is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists.
